It is with great pleasure that I welcome you to Kent Graduate Management College – a learner centered Business School established with the mission of balancing inequalities between age, gender, location, and social groups in terms of higher educational access,(especially in developing nations) through the provision of highly challenging and intellectually stimulating programmes through distance learning.

Indeed, Globalisation and the rapidly changing complexity of workplace call for new effectiveness and professional ways in managing organizations, which thus create the need for the emergence of effective managers that possess professional management skills for managing organisational transformation, technological challenges, decentralisation and dynamic team configurations, amongst other things, while balancing accountability and honouring diversity and work/life integration. We have therefore developed the Postgraduate Diploma in Management Practice in response to many requests from people who:

are non management graduates/professionals occupying managerial and supervisory positions or heading departments, units, sections that needs professional management knowledge to perform better in order to assist in achieving organisational objectives.
are non management graduates occupying senior and middle level positions in Public and Private Organisations and are aspiring for leadership positions.
are young non management graduates or new employees who wish to enhance their personal and professional knowledge, advance in their present career, or acquire new knowledge to make a career change, and have limited access to the much needed high quality postgraduate management educational programmes or who are unable to give up their jobs or family commitments to attend full time studies.

          We appreciate the differences between traditional classroom teaching and the new, but refreshing approach to learning by distance learning. However, this does not mean that learning through distance learning is not good or effective as traditional methods because we have put in place various services, which will allow you to have access to your tutor and other students either through our website or by post. In fact, the internet today is now becoming an excellent vehicle for online and distance learning which is cost effective and convenient.

          My role as the Director of Studies of Kent Graduate Management College is a very important position. It is important because my responsibility is to look after your interests as a student and to ensure that the learning outcomes of the course that you have enrolled on are achieved. It is also my responsibility to make sure that our appointed faculty tutors and resources are available to help you succeed. We want you to be satisfied with your progress so that at the end of the course you will have attained a higher level of knowledge and skills.
